JavaScript Library/Framework RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am working for a project where all the Java Script is convoluted, dependencies are not setup appropriately and there is hell of Java script files.

It is almost impossible mess, coded with low quality Java script code.

I am trying to figure out various possible options to organize all the Java Script in Custom Form code.  Please share your experiences / recommendations with various Java Script libraries (for e.g. Require) and Frameworks  (Angular) in Dynamics Environment.  We have On-Prem installation.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best Regards,

    Pritesh Ostwal

  • First of all, Sort that code......... Gather all javascript Library into one project. Separate and try to understand, which JavaScript Files and its functions used in Which Entity Forms on what event.

One you Map those functionality, try Managing the Code using JQuery or any other library you are comfortable with.

There is no recommended path which one is best, but XRM framework is the Native CRM 2013 that we should use and additionally JQuery/Kindo/Angular...whatever you feel comfortable with.

  • hello Pritesh,

if you are on CRM 4 and upgrading, do not worry about the JavaScript mess. Upgrade to CRM 2011 will neatly move all these script into webresources. Using xrmtoolbox can export all the web resources and add it into your visual studio project.

that leaves further heavy lifting to you.

    regards,

    Jithesh
