ActiveX Error Message at Startup RRS feed

  • Question

  • At startup I've lately been receiving this message in Windows 10:

"Web Browser -- one or more activex controls could not be displayed because either your current security settings" etc., this appearing in a white box in the middle of the screen.  It goes on to say a page can't load because of this.  I have no idea what page is being referred to, nor what program the page is in.  I'm curious about the "web browser" reference.  Everything I've read says to go into Internet Explorer to fix this . . . but to my knowledge I don't have IE on my machine.  I have Edge, which I gather is totally different.  So, how to make this annoyance stop?

I have the impression the problem cropped up after a recent Windows update.  I had trouble with MS Word, too; had to clean reinstall it.  It's fine now, but what about the ActiveX dilemma?
