The Live Mesh client status is always "Starting Live Mesh"

Question

Have installed on Vista Home Premium. It runs well for a few days and then live-mesh goes into "Sarting" mode that seems to last all day long. I have uninstalled and reinstalled severe times using the recomended switches but it makes no difference.

You can add me to the list. I've submitted here: https://connect.microsoft.com/LiveMesh/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=361430 along with log files
Note that the guy sitting next to me installed at the same time and it worked just fine.
Thanks

Update.
The information above was written while I was at work today. I have since returned home and Mesh has started without a problem.
I will update the Connect submission accordingly. If you take a look at the logs and discver what the problem was then i would really appreciate knowing.
Obviously the problem might occur again when I go into work tomorrow and if so I shall let you know.
Thanks
Jamie

Good news. I've come into work this morning (where it wasn't working yesterday) and I have successfully signed-in.
I've updated the Connect submission accordingly.

Same thing happened to me. I had the "Starting Live Mesh" permanent as the status in a Windows XP SP2
Just a few minutes ago, trying to solve some other issues, I Re-registered Ole32.dll and everything went back to normal, and it started working again after several months.
What I did exactly was run:
Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
Good luck.

Re-registering Ole32.dll fixed my problem too! XP Pro SP3.
Forwarded this onto the guys at Microsoft that have been helping me try and sort out this issue - who I have to commend for their knowledge and persistence.Thursday, August 14, 2008 6:39 AM -
I had the same problem, but mine showed up after an upgrade to SP3 -- I un-installed Mesh, re-installed, un-installed SP3, re-installed Mesh, no luck... After reading these posts, I had the feeling this would fix it (I found this by looking for confirmation that Mesh would WORK on SP3, since that's what wrecked it) so I re-installed SP3. I had to d/l the standalone, Microsoft Update was not working either. I also had already d/l the Mesh installer and tried that. After the SP3 re-install, I ran the Mesh installer and, as expected, it still did not work. I cut and pasted the re-reg for ole32 and like magic, it worked! BUT -- What fixed it was the appearance of the Mesh Login window -- that was what was broken - it was not appearing before so there was no way to sign in. I just wanted to get that in the record...Wednesday, August 20, 2008 2:24 AM

This, Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll,
didn't work for me on Vista SP1

In Vista, you need to log in as Administrator to do that.
Logging in as a user with administrator rights won't work.Friday, September 5, 2008 4:44 PM
