WHS remote Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok I have searched for the answer to my problem but cannot find anything. I am having a problem with remote access. I am using the BT Home Hub 3 (BT Routers are bad I know) when I setup remote access in WHS V1 console all of the checks on the list pass and then configure domain name and that all passes but when I go to browers and put in https://xxxxx.homeserver.com I get IE cannot display web page. I would change the router but this router is needed for BT Infinity. I have also supplied a static IP on the server and ports 80 and 443 are open. I have got 4125 and the other one rules in the router. I have tried turning off Remote access and then back on same again everything passes but when I try to access it I get the IE error. Also if i type the ip address of the server in the browser from within the network then it works its just from outside the network.

  • Does your router support loop back?  From your description, I would guess not.  That said, have you tried accessing from a computer outside your LAN, from a friends house?

  • I have just been setting up WHS11 but have similar issues.  I did port-forwarding on ports 443 and 4125.  I do not believe you need 80 but I think you need 4125.  I fixed the IP for the server.  Works fine with only these ports, when I logging through the server home page.  But, looks like you cannot get to the server.

    Good luck.
