  • I have the  same problem with a machine bought from one of the country's largest retail groups.  I have put the diagnostic report below.  Is this perhaps a case of Microsoft trying to undermine gpl software such as Mozilla?

  • Ian Moseley,

Please explain your specific problem and symptoms.

    Saturday, April 28, 2007 2:40 PM
  • When I boot up the opening screen shows a small box headed 'Monitor' and within the box is a message ... 'Invalid License ID'.  This started happening this am (12 May 2007).  Since it began I have had nothing but problems with the internet, and its causing me a lot of hassle as there is information online I need to get to.   Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  As an aside I have downloaded and run the diagnostic tool but it has found nothing amiss.

  • Ray Scollen,

A Google search reveals that the monitor program that is throwing the error dialog is part of an Acer program called eRecovery.

Please contact Acer tech support for assistance.

  • I think I may have an answer for this one!
If your pc or laptop is an Acer, it is your eRecovery software causing the 'Monitor-Invalid License ID' message on startup.  Same thing was happening to a laptop I did a fix on.  Took me 3 days to work out how to fix it.
All you need to do is rename the monitor.exe which is located in C:/program files/acer/eRecovery
I just named it 'recovery' and it worked fine.
Hope that helps anyone looking for info on the same problem.

  • I had this errors pop up every time i started my desktop (really annoying):

    first one 2 times:
    MONITOR
    Invalid License ID

    and then later:

    the Second error:
    ACER eRECOVEY MANAGEMENT
    INT15 ERROR
    eRECOVERY MUST BE TERMINATED.

so I searched on the internet and found things to do with register and msconfig but nothing helped.....

    THIS IS THE SOLUTION!!

I searched for monitor.exe with windows search
it was found in the erecovery folder
so I renamed monitor in monitor2
and then i saw erecovey in the same folder so I renamed erecovey in erecovery2.
i restarted and the error didn't pop up!!!!
