Validation error when system restore

    Question

  • I keep getting an error, saying that there was a validation error. 2 days ago I did a system restore on my HP G70, and the os is vista(which I hate, but I'm a cheap skate). Which since I've started writing this thread it hasn't come up yet, but I haven't downloaded anything other than Visual Basic 2010 express and Bit Defender 2012. Has anybody else had this problem? Btw, this isn't a bootleg copy or anything. I bought my computer brand new from office depot.

BitDefender can cause this issue if Vista hasn’t been updated to Service Pack 2 level – if this is the case, uninstall BD, then install Service Pack 2, then reinstall BD.

otherwise, please run an MGADiag report while the notification is showing, and post it here.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
      - **in your own thread**, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine, but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
