is this product key valid for this version of windows 7

Question
-
I have just upgraded a laptop from Vista to Windows 7 home premium and I had bought a product key online from what I thought was a reputable site, it states that they are part of the Microsoft partner network right on their web site. But when I try to use the key I get the following error message, “The product key you have entered will not work with this edition of Windows 7. You must either run Windows 7 setup or enter a Windows 7 Home Premium product key.” The company swears that it is the right key and acts like I did something wrong. Now they have stopped communicating with me. Before I start to fill complaints against them I need to verify whether or not this key is valid for this version of Windows 7. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

It appears the seller illegally sold you a product key pirated (stolen) from a not-for-resale MSDN Subscription account. It is a product key for a European N version of Windows 7 which requires a Windows 7 N version installation media. These means you need a conventional genuine U.S. version Windows 7 Home Premium product key. Only purchase from a proven, reliable, trustworthy source. Example: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
