is this product key valid for this version of windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just upgraded a laptop from Vista to Windows 7 home premium and I had bought a product key online from what I thought was a reputable site, it states that they are part of the Microsoft partner network right on their web site.  But when I try to use the key I get the following error message, “The product key you have entered will not work with this edition of Windows 7.  You must either run Windows 7 setup or enter a Windows 7 Home Premium product key.”   The company swears that it is the right key and acts like I did something wrong. Now they have stopped communicating with me.  Before I start to fill complaints against them I need to verify whether or not this key is valid for this version of Windows 7. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • It appears the seller illegally sold you a product key pirated (stolen) from a not-for-resale MSDN Subscription account. It is a product key for a European N version of Windows 7 which requires a Windows 7 N version installation media. These means you need a conventional genuine U.S. version Windows 7 Home Premium product key. Only purchase from a proven, reliable, trustworthy source.  Example: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
