Project Server 2010 - Best practice for a PMO? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone have any suggestion/documentation on best practice of usage Project Server 2010 as a PMO tool for:
o Planning - Usage of server side templates, usage od approvals workflows etc.
o Scheduling and resourcing - usage os server resource pool, leveragging resources etc.
o Cost control - monitoring the status of the project SPI, EV analysis etc.
o Reporting - Excel, SSRS and SSAS
o Management of Change - how use Project server for MoC?
     o Workflow - what workflow use/customise/deploy?

I know that project server can handle all these features, but, are there any "best practice"?

    Thanks All

  • There's a lot of best practice.  The real question is what practice is suitable
for your specific organization and how must that practice be tailored to
your specific culture and PM maturity level.

The best practice I would recommend for a construction company is not the
best practice I would recommend for an IT shop.

That's typically where a partner comes in - to provide that tailoring to
    your specific needs.
