Installing CRM Server 2013 - Setup failed to validate specified Reporting Services Report Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys...

    I've been trying to find a solution for this error I'm getting while trying to install Dynamics CRM 2013...

    Setup failed to validate specified Reporting Services Report Server http://XXXXX/ReportServer. Error: Error occurred while deleting an item from the report server.
    An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerStorageException: An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. ---> System.Exception: For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors

    ReportServer currently works out of port 80, and when I goto http://XXXXX/ReportServer, it shows the following text

    XXXX/ ReportServer /

    Tuesday, Nov 05,2013 5:57AM <dir> RANDOM KEY TEXT MSCRM

    And then, when I go to http://XXXX/Reports it redirects to an HTTPS site, asks me to confirm a security exception, redirects to /Reports/Pages/Folders.aspx and gives me a 404 error.

    Any help would be highly appreciated!

    Thank you so much!

  • This sounds more like a Reporting Services problem than a CRM one. The Reporting Services log files may provide more information. Otherwise, I'd check the Reporting Services Configuration Manager to see if it reports any errors

  • Hi!

    Thank you so much for getting back to me! I checked out the log that you recommended and this is the error that I get

    :: Call to DeleteItemAction(/3636199031d24cbba652cd39a4a6b685_MSCRM).
    :: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerStorageException: An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database., ;
    :: e ERROR: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerStorageException: An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid object name 'ReportServerTempDB.dbo.SnapshotData'
    :: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/).

    Does that make any sense?

    Thank you for all your help in advance!

  • You should try to upgrade RSReportServer config file.

    Update the RSReportServer.config file using the following steps:

    1. In Windows Explorer, locate the ReportServer directory. The following path is the default path of this directory: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer
    2. Right-click RSReportServer.config, click Open With, click Notepad and then click OK.
    3. Locate the following Add Key entry: <Add Key="SecureConnectionLevel" Value="2"/>
    4. Change the Value setting from 2 to 0.

  • I also faced this problem , and a couple more and i resolved all of them by giving to my user all the possible administration rights on the machines im working on. And it worked.
