It's not running. And services.msc wont let me turn it on manually. I'm an IT intern. I've tried many ways to start it. No luck.

  • Hello MisterMurdoc14,

Your installation of Vista HP on your HP computer is reporting a large number of mismatched files.  Generally this can be attributed to either malware infection or a serious defective harware issue.

I would suggest running whatever hardware diagnostics routines that were supplied by HP, and if no hardware issue is revealed, I would back up and offload my data then do a fresh installation of Windows using the manufacturer-supplied Recovery solution.

For future reference - if you hit the Copy button, it'll almost always still paste at least most of the output if you try :)
    Is this a Dell?
I assume you're talking about the Software Licensing Service?

The SLS will often be switched off by Malware - so that's the first thing to check for. Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (www.malwarebytes.org) and update it before running a quick scan in normal mode. If it finds anything significant, run a Full system scan in Safe Mode in ALL user accounts - starting with any Admin accounts present.

Then try setting the SLS to Automatic start, and then starting it
Whatever the result, run another MGADiag report, and try pasting the result even if you get the error message.

  • Hello MisterMurdoc14,

Your installation of Vista HP on your HP computer is reporting a large number of mismatched files.  Generally this can be attributed to either malware infection or a serious defective harware issue.

I would suggest running whatever hardware diagnostics routines that were supplied by HP, and if no hardware issue is revealed, I would back up and offload my data then do a fresh installation of Windows using the manufacturer-supplied Recovery solution.

it is not a hardware issue i am sure of it. i have gone and checked through everything. It's all running smoothly. Dang it. Again eh? Oh well... time number 5 now. 5th wipe in 2 and a half years. What if i want to just throw XP or 7 on this box? I'm tired of Vista so i think i'll upgrade.
