Answering machine detection when pointing OCS at a 2004 app RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how answering machine detection works when pointing OCS at an outbound 2004 SALT app using an AudioCodes 114fxo gateway?  It always comes back as human voice.

    Thanks!

  • If you have setCallAnalysis=true in your MakeCall smex message, the Salt interpreter subscribes to ITelephonySession.AnsweringEntityDetected.  Speech Server then relies on the gateway to do the actual detection, so you need to find out what your gateway does in this regard.

If your gateway doesn't support detection, look at how the DetectAnsweringMachine activity works, and duplicate this in salt.

We have found that none of the gateways support detection, so we can't use the MSS app (as it depends on getting AMD information from the TIM in the 2004 model).  So we have to write a wrapper in OCS.

This brings up a few important questions:

It seems that OCS does not detect operator intercepts/SIT tones either, correct?  How are people addressing this?

    Thank you,

    Jon
