I bought a laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed. I receive a prompt for the product key whenever I attempt to open an office program. I've entered the 25 digit key on the sticker on the underside of my laptop, but I receive an error message that it is invalid. I haven't found any answers from previous posts with a similar problem. Below is the diagnostic. What next?

Could it be that you used your Windows COA key to activate Office? Your Windows license seems ok, if your Office got past the 60-day trial time, you need to activate it with its own key."I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.” (Thomas J. Watson, Sr.)

Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 - 100 Genuine
That is the key you are looking for, check your packaging for the product key, if it came as evaluation software on your computer then you will need to purchase a key. From what I can tell you are still genuine meaning that you have not exceeded the time frame for the evaluation BUT the clock is ticking and you will need to obtain a license for office to continue using it. If you have a key and media for an earlier version you can uninstall the version you have and install the version that you have a legitimate copy of.
For clarification, just because it is asking for activation does not mean that you can't use it if it is still in the evaluation state but you also don't want it to go non-genuine by waiting too long.

The Product Key on the CoA label affixed to the bottom of your laptop is that of Windows 7, as it says. It won't work for any other software.
If you have a trial version of Microsoft Word installed, and it's asking for a Product Key, then you'll have to purchase a license for Word (or Office, as applicable) to get the correct Product Key.

OGA Data--> Office Status: 102 <- see A) below Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 - 100 Genuine <- see B) below OGA Version: N/A, 0x80070002 Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 Office Diagnostics: 77F760FE-153-80070002_7E90FEE8-175-80070002_025D1FF3-364-80041010_025D1FF3-229-80041010_025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-517-80040154_025D1FF3-237-80040154_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-244-80070002_025D1FF3-258-3_B4D0AA8B-920-80070057
A)means one of the Office programs installed is a Trial version (In this case there is only one Office program installed, so it must be the one that is a Trial Version)
B) means this copy of Windows is "currently" Genuine. In this case, it's a Trial version that has not yet reached the end of the trial period. Once it does, the code 100 (genuine) will change to 102 (Trial)
