  • Hello SDF Consulting,

Your HP/Compaq nx7400 computer has a nongenuine installation of Windows XP Professional.  Your HP/Compaq has a Dell OEM SLP license for Windows XP Pro installed, which is a violation of the OEM End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) which states that OEM licenses for Windows XP are permanently associated with the computer onto which they are first installed and are not permitted to be moved to any other computer.

Please look on the HP/Compaq computer for a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA).  If there is a CoA, please tell us what version and edition of Windows is listed on the CoA, and if there is a manufacturer's name or "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" printed on the CoA.  Do not post the product key printed on the CoA.

If your computer has a CoA, then it is licensed to run the version and edition of Windows listed on the CoA, and will be Genuine once again if you put that licensed verison and edition back onto the computer.  Here is a support page at hp.com with information about using the recovery solution:  http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SupportTaskIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=115&prodSeriesId=1847094&prodTypeId=321957&supportTaskId=22918  If you do not have the manufacturer's recovery discs available to use to do so, then please contact HP/Compaq tech support or customer service to purchase the discs.

Regarding Office, as Noel posted your computer has a nongenuine Volume Licensing installation of Office Enterprise 2007.  I would encourage you to post in the Office section of the forum for further assistance:  http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuineoffice/threads

There is a problem with your Windows XP install, and your Office install is non-genuine.
Office Enterprise is sold only in bulk to organisations for use on their own machine - if you bought this copy, then you should immediately attempt to claim a refund.

The File Mismatch highlighted above is a worrying one - frequently the winlogon file is a target for malware, so I'd suggest running a good Anti-Virus and a good anti-Spyware scanner over the computer before attempting to fix the problem (any of the bigger AV makers should be OK, and I recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for the other - www.malwarebytes.org) make sure that you have new definitions for all AV and AM programs before use, as there are a lot of new threats emerging.

Once you're confident the system is clean, then try repairing the file using the System File Checker - you may well need your recovery disks to hand (but do NOT insert them unless asked).
    Log into an Administrator account
Click on the Start button, then click Run..
    in the box, type
    SFC   /SCANNOW
    and click OK
You may be prompted to insert the CD - do so.
The machine will complete the scan, and you should then reboot, and run the MGADiag tool again.
    See if anything has changed.
