Can a future employer find out if you failed an exam?

Question

So I failed an exam the other day....
My concern is, is there any way for any future employer to find this out?
ThanksSunday, January 24, 2010 8:04 PM

No, there is no way for an employer to find out you have failed an exam unless you tell them. Failed exams are not recorded on your certification exam transcript.

Hi GSS1,
Only passed exams are visible in your Transcript, not failed exams. Then there is no chance to track you which subject you have failed. In MCP site failed exams are not visible to u or ( for your official verification of your certification achievements, by using in your Transcript Sharing Tool .), In both the cases they are not visible.
It is only visible to you or others, when you Open your (http://www.register.prometric.com/Menu.asp?cookie_test=1 ) prometric site and see your Candidate History by login to this site (https://www.register.prometric.com/Login.asp ), There it is visible, that is I am sure.

Only if you provide them access to the MCP site. Most employers will require verification of any degrees or certifications you hold, and the MCP website allows you to either give them access to verify, or provide an electronic version of exam info. Best thing would be to provide copies of what you passed, not want you didn't.
Also, keep in mind that not passing an exam isn't bad. Remember that these exams are difficult.Sunday, January 24, 2010 8:41 PMAnswerer -
How do you mean provide access to verify, where is that?Sunday, January 24, 2010 9:25 PM

If you've passed at least one Microsoft exam, then you're granted access to their MCP website. That allows you to either provide an electronic copy of your transcript, or allows you to provide perspective employers access to verify your credentials. Some employers will insist on being provided access (which includes a specific password), however most will accept an electronic copy of your credentials.Sunday, January 24, 2010 9:42 PMAnswerer

I do not see a problem with failing an exam unless you tell employers that you passed exams you did not.
if you tell the truth there should be no problem, we all fail at one time or another and it is only human...

Your employer will know only if provided with your candidate history from Prometric which shows all your exams attempts. The transcript shows the exam passing date not status . It also shows when each credential was achieved.
I hope it helps

Most companies I have worked for do not pay for your exams in advance. They have you pay for them, and they will reimburse you when you provide documentation that you passed the exam.

Hi
Ok the point is moot...
Authoritive answers from Ben Watson and Tapan
- Further employers cannot see what exams you have failed from your Microsoft Transcript. It only lists the ones you have passed
- The only way that a future employer can see your full exam history (pass and fails) is if you decided to show them your exam history from Prometric and/or Pearson Vue (pre 31-Dec-2007).

Niall, you forgot to mention if you leave your scoresheet lying around in <insert coffee shop name here> and they just wander past and happen to see it.
