Remove User defined Views Shared with Another User

Question
-
CRM 4.0 Rollup 11
This seems like it should be so easy. I have a user no longer with us and disabled in CRM that had shared a view she defined with another user John. She gave John READ rights only on it. Now John would like to remove/hide/disable this view but gets a message that he doesn't have enough rights to do so. he just wants it off his drop down view list.
There has to be a way to remove unwanted views, right? Is everyone really stuck till the end of time with anything someone shares with them and only gives them READ rights to? Is the only solution to reactivate the user and give John more permissions so he can remove this view?
Can I do anything as an Admin to remove this view?
Any help would be great!

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a quick solution to this. CRM uses permissions to manage which views any user sees, and that includes the administrator - i.e. the administrator doesn't have rights to access shared views by default.
There are 2 supported options:
- Reactivate the user, logon as that user, and delete the view, or grant more rights to John
- Write some code that will impersonate the user (setitng the callerId property), and perform the actions on the views. However, I think you still need to reactivate the user

Thanks for both! I think for now we'll reactivate, but I'm going to keep the tool handy for when that's not an option.
Thanks!

Hi amreek, i have the same concern as with lifeisPunny. and i tried this tool to my local crm, but i wasnt able to find a way on how to delete or reassign the view that was shared by the (recently disabled) user to another (still active)user. The shared view is only given a read only access to the user.
Is the only way is to reactivate the user?
