How to change specific system entities? RRS feed

  • Hello,

    I'm trying to change some system entities and I realize that on some system entities you cannot change anything.

    For example, I can add fields and relationships on a "serviceactivity" bit it's not possible to change something in "service" or "site".

    I really can't understand, why for example the "site" entity has about 20 fields which are predefined and are not used or can't even added to the formular.

    Is there any supported / unsupported way where i can change (add fields, relationships) to records from service or site entities?

    I'm developing on Crm 2011 rollup 6.

  • Hi Sebastian,

    These entities are not customisable as you say - the only way to extend them is to add a new 1:N relationship and add you custom fields to the related entity and relate it back to the site/service.

    There is no defined reason why some system entities do not have possibility to add new attributes to them.

    Apart from Site, addresses is another entity where you cant add new attributes. 

    If however, you wan to use entity like Site or address with your custom fields, best way is to create a custom entity and modify or extend it the way you like.
