Answers

  • Yes, when you pass exam 70-551 you upgrade your MCAD certification and you get the two following ones:

Microsoft Certified Professional Developer: Web Developer
Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications

You can see it in the "credit towards certification" section in the exam page:

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-551

And also in the certification page:

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-vstudio.aspx#tab4

However, note that this gives you a certification on Framework 2.0. If you want a certification in the newer versions, you would need to take additional upgrade exams:

    70-567 upgrades you from 2.0 to 3.5

    70-523 upgrades you from 3.5 to 4.0

Or you may choose to take directly the four exams required for the MCPD on version 4.0.
