  • Question

  • I would like to have centralised email capabilities in WHS and the ability to have push email out to my family phones.

  • There's a good post on the WHS team blog that talks about why email capabilities have been omitted from WHS.

As for pushing email out to your phones, most cellular providers have some way to access your personal email from your phone now. Nobody I know uses this, except for business, because your phone screen is too small to read a significant amount of text on, unless you have a Blackberry or similar smartphone.

  • I agree with this; I run an Exchange server at home so my Windows Mobile device can have Push Email; it's overkill, and not everyone is in a position to do it.

I know Live Mail will support push for Windows Mobile 6 devices, but
not everyone wants to change their email provider to Live Mail. WHS seems like the perfect solution for mobile sync.

After all, it backs up your desktop pc's data, why not your Windows powered smartphone too?
