Windows 7 7601 This copy of windows is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a custom built computer from a friend, it has been running fine for about a year and a half, then randomly it says windows 7 is not a genuine copy. I don't have a working CD/DVD Drive so there is no point buying a windows 7 thing, and I have about 100gb of steam games I can't be bother redownloading. Is there a way to activate windows without deleting anything or using a CD/DVD drive?

Windows has detected an activation exploit. your windows is not genuine.

Looks like a poorly done hack job.

You will have to purchase and install genuine windows.

  • Unfortunately, someone installed a counterfeit copy of Windows 7 Enterprise edition.  The only way you're gonna fix this problem is to purchase a genuine "Full Retail" edition of Windows 7 and perform a "clean install".  If you paid your "friend" for the computer, and he installed this counterfeit copy of Windows, he owes you bigtime for a genuine edition of Windows 7.  Genuine Microsoft Windows 7 editions are available from the Microsoft Store.
