Hello Dezzarezza,
Since you have a Volume Licensing installation of Windows, it's likely that your company's IT staff deploys the software installed on your system in an image. If so, a format and reload should be pretty painless, because the reimaging will install the OS, Office, and all of the other programs and settings that are used on your company's machines.
In the communication with the MS support staff, did they verify that your Office Product Key is Genuine?
When you uninstalled and reinstalled Office, what media did you use?

Hello Dezzarezza,
Almost everyone who has posted a problem similar to yours finds out that an installed protective program is preventing the active-x control from running.
So, check any antivirus, antimalware, or similar programs to see if they are blocking the OGA active-x control.

Hi Dan
This is a clean loading I havent got as far as anti virus or malware yet. Tried turning the firewall off but to no avail. It seems strange that the WGA is fine but not the OGA.

Hello Dezzarezza,
It's possible that your installation of the Office Genuine Advantage active-x controls as distributed via Windows Updates was corrupted, otherwise damaged, or did not install properly. Under normal circumstances we would suggest that you redownload and reinstall the specific KB949810 update, but it is not available separately for such reinstallation.
Given the above, the best option at this point is to submit a request for free email tech support for your issue with OGA active-x here: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&c1=505&gprid=11482&&st=1&wfxredirect=1
When they get it fixed, please come back here to let us know what the problem was and what they had you do to fix it. Thanx! :-)

Hello Dezzarezza,
Can I ask you why your HP computer has a Volume Licensing installation of XP Pro on it?
Also, what edition of Office is installed? (The report mysteriously shows "2007 Microsoft Office System" instead of a specific edition, such as Office Professional 2007 or Office Home and Student 2007.)

The machine is from work so I would guess that would explain the VLK. i have office 2007 pro installed.
I previously had 2003 and 2007 but uninstalled 2003 to try and resolve this problem which caused a few screwy things to happen.
The microsoft guys seem to think it is an IE problem not an office problem. That is as far as we got before he decided he couldn't continue until tomorrow.

Hello Dezzarezza,
Did MS support have you delete all of the add-ons installed in IE?
(You mentioned that you reset IE and normally the reset process would nuke all of the add-ons.)
Did they have you look in Scheduled Tasks to see if there are any OGA-related tasks there?

Hi Dan
They disabled all the running add ons.
There is an OGA logon sheduled to run at start up but removing this doesn't make any difference.
I will be back on the phone this morning. It will soon have been cheaper to buy a new laptop !!!

Hello Dezzarezza,
You wrote, "I previously had 2003 and 2007 but uninstalled 2003 to try and resolve this problem which caused a few screwy things to happen."
Was the 2003 installation identified as nongenuine? Have seen cases where a previous nongenuine installation leaves behind remnants that can have unexpected consequences......

Hi Dan
The office 2003 was genuine. I had another 2 hour session with Microsoft yesterday and I am currently waiting for a research guy to call me today, I will keep you updated with their findings.

Thanks Dan
3 sessions with Microsoft, a reload of ie and a repair loading of xp, still no further.
Last correspondence suggested a format and reload, not really a solution.

Unfortunately Microsoft were unable to solve the problem, tried a repair installation, new user account and clearing ie but nothing worked.
They have closed the case and have suggested a format install of Windows to correct the problem.
They have said the copy of office is genuine so I have nothing to worry about.
Sorry I couldn't shed any light on this issue.
Unfortunately the image also contains the error. doh!!
Thanks for all your help
