CRM 2011 failed to install RRS feed

  • I tried to install MS CRM 2011. And get the following error in the begining of installation

    I am using a vhd image downloaded from

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/trial-software.aspx

    (Windows Server 2008 R2).

    I'm add this virtual machine to test domain and run crm setup under domain admin account.

    All Prerequisite Packages installes without errors, but after accepting license agreement setup failed with error.

    I had installed CRM 4 In this domain, and it works ok.

  • Sounds like something is hosed up.  I would back up your database and uninstall crm 4.0, then install 2011 and import (upgrade) your org by attaching it as part of the setup process.

  • The problem was with russian version of crm server

    I finally installed english version of crm 2011 server and russian MUI package.

  • Hi Alex,

    We are going to look into this a little further - clearly there should not be an issue with the Russian install.

    We are aware of some random issues with files getting corrupted during download.

    Is there a way we can contact you other than via this post ?

    I found one intresting thing, we bought crm 4.0 server rus

    but by software assurance programm we can download only english version of server.

    I am using a vhd image downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/trial-software.aspx  (Windows Server 2008 R2).

    <brianfr>This is an en-us windows 2008 R2 server build. I downloaded and used to repro the issue.

    <brianfr>I added the VM to my test domain and installed active directory and English SQL on the VM. It is not clear from your post wheather you installed SQL on the VM or connected to a separate SQL server.

    All Prerequisite Packages installes without errors, but after accepting license agreement setup failed with error.

    <brianfr>All prerequisites installed without error and the server setup succeeded also without error. The default Russian org was provisioned and accessible post the successful installation of the Russian server.

  • Hi, Brian.

    Tommorow I found that crm 2011 server rus is  available for download by  soft. assurance.

    I downloaded dvd iso, tried to install crm server rus but got the  same error.

    Would you please reproduce this simple test:

    Use the clean VM  http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/trial-software.aspx  (Windows Server 2008 R2).

    without domain controller and sql server installed.

    Run eng setup and follow the installation steps till directory selection dialog.

    And try to do the same with rus server.  russian server setup failed before directory selection dialog in my VM.

     I used process monitor to find a problem and found that russian setup try to read registry key that doesnt exists.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products\55D425C091410500DBE735E02565E025]

    I added this key and installation error disappeared but finally installation crushed with another error. 

    I recorded  a small (about 5 min) screencast with my steps and published it on youtube

    Watching your video, I see you have installed the CRM 2011, later with you said you crushed with another error, what was that error?

    And how you get this ID: 55D425C091410500DBE735E02565E025 ?

  • Hi!, For the error:

    "Error| System.Exception: Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Common.Analyzer+CollectAction failed. ---> "

    I got the solution, follow these steps:

    1. Uninstall CRM 2011.

    2. Delete the key in regedit:

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components\AA525E7FC7F524344B2B2650A4C6D64D

     

    Note: This Key AA525E7FC7F524344B2B2650A4C6D64D is always there, so if you have the same issue in another installation, you will have to do the same steps.

     

    3. Restart the server.

    4. Install again.
