Rollup Field - Filter By Date? RRS feed

  • In CRM 2015 Online, I have a 1:N from Contact to a custom entity called Expense, which contains a date and a currency value. I see how I can sum up the dollar values on the Contact using a rollup field.

    Is there a way to filter the rollup so it only counts Expenses from this calendar year?

  • You can filter the rollup, but the filter does not directly support expressions, so you will need a field that indicates if the expense is for this calendar year, and filter on that field

    This field cannot be done as a calculated field (calculated fields do not support enough expressions for this), so you'd need to populate it by business rule, workflow or plugin

  • Thank you. I'm happy to set a checkbox but I don't think it's possible to set the checkbox with a workflow or a business rule. Workflows would have to be set to run daily, and even then you can't set a greater than/less than to a dynamic value (like this year). Processes would only fire if the entity changed.
