  • this nero report is beyond my understanding

You can try to install another version or use a freeware burning software to burn something into it to get the drive checked if it works then there is problem with the nero try reinstalling it

if the problem still exist then try and good lens cleaner to get the lens cleaned

  • Hello

I know about a lot of cd writer or DVD issues. Please tell me exactly whats happening. Is you cd writer not able to write cs and after inserting the data cd is it saying: CD not in drive. tell me exactly in simple terms . May be I can help you.

As a workaround Plaese follw the follwing article. Dont see the error message in this article just follw the steps. Remove the upper and lower filters from windows registry. Before performing any step, take a system restore point.

  • Hi thanx a lot for you reply!

The problem is getting worse day by day. Look, I have one CD-ROM and one DVD writer, now, the problem is earlier only DVD writer was causing problem but now both are troublesome. The DVD writer first stopped writing DVDs and it stopeed detecting(reading) CDs now both of them do not read CDs.

Recently I opened the CPU and unplugged all the wires of DVD Writer and then replugged after transfering data to external hard disk drive(it was actually an old internal hardi disk drive therefore I had to unplug one drive) . After replugging it none of the (CD ROM and DVD writer) are being detected even in BIOS and I am thinking what happens if somehow my Windows gets corrupted I might not even be able to re-install Windows since my CD and DVD drives are not working.
