Transfer Office 2003 Professional to another computer

    Question

  • I have Microsoft Office 2003 Professional installed on this computer, but want to delete from here and transfer it to another computer.  I do not have the original installation disk anymore, but used a keyfinder program to get the product key for office off of this computer.  Ive run Genuine Advantage to confirm office's authenticity.  However, when installing on the other computer, it says the key is invalid.  Ive looked at other posts, and see that they usually ask for the MGA Diagnostics information, so here it is:

  • 1st you are in a forum for Windows XP operating system, not Office.

2nd how are you attempting to install the product without the original install media (disks?)  You need the original (or exact copyies) of the 2003 pro product to have it use the product key that the keyfinder program found.  You can't just copy the program files to the new computer it must be installed properly.

  • I apologize for the wrong forum.  Is there a way i can move it, or should I repost?  I am using a office 2003 pro disk from someone else to install on the new computer.

  • You don't need the original disks. (Good luck finding those....and if you do they're scratched up so badly you can't use them).  You CAN just copy the program files over. All you need is to transfer the whole folder to a flash drive, plug it in to the new computer's usb and move it over to the other computer. Run the setup file and it'll ask for the product key just like it does with the disks.
