Trying to back up system, that failed, and windows is not genuine because of me upgrading from Home P. to Ult. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Basically, I got a windows might not be genuine in the first place, so i scanned and it failed, so i had to enter my windows product key, which i couldn't find at the time, (Now since i've asked the company that created my laptop i know it was under my battery.) I was constantly getting harrassed by windows not being genuine and such, not being able to use some microsoft softwares as well, so i upgraded to Ult. Turns out that failed misserably, now i'm trying to back up my files, and re install home premium using the disc i got when i bought my laptop. The problem is, my backup is having an error and i don't want to loose any of my files. ALSO, i'm afraid that even if i was to just use the restore disc, it wouldn't have the required tools that i need for my laptops LED keyboard and proper tech, plus my antivirus software might not be eligible for my use again. So what do i do?..

I'm just trying to get it back to the state of which it was in when i bought it. If i loose all the stuff i've installed since then, so be it. But not sure what custom stuff i would loose. The company is MAINGEAR.

  • so i upgraded to Ult. Turns out that failed misserably

usually does when you don't purchase a genuine upgrade.

you have several issues but this is the only one that matters:

you are using a Dell OEM SLP key on a CLEVO computer. that will never work.

you will have to reinstall using your manufacturers recovery media.

  • As George says, you are using a counterfeit copy of Ultimate.  OEM SLP copies of Windows such as this are only genuine when they are the copies installed originally on a computer by the manufacturer.  They cannot be transferred to another computer and they cannot be used as upgrades.  You need to purchase a retail copy of Ultimate if you want Ultimate.

  • This is exactly why I do not trust doing a backup without an actual system or software.

MY PROBLEMS = SOLVED. This will also help you in your case also since most people forget the more advanced steps to backup.

In most cases, this is a risk in the future when you cross that road... either the LIFE or DEATH of your PC. Why? Because most people will never actually pass the steps successfully own their own.  I have been using this source found on Google: <link redacted> -- This has been my relief against anxiety, stress, and pressure of making any mistakes.. perfect backup solution for windows 7 (and keeps Genuine) active :)
