CRM Contacts not showing up in Outlook

Question
-
We have several employees set up with the CRM outlook client. One thing we have noticed is that only people with administrator rights can view their contacts in the outlook address book when sending mail. If you just click on contacts in outlook they are there but when you click to send a new message and click on the "to" and choose which list of contacts to look through and choose CRM contacts nothing will show up. We assume this is a security role issue but the only thing we can find in CRM security roles that looks like it would affect this is under Business Management and the Miscellaneous Privileges "CRM Address Book". Anyone have any ideas....Thanks in advance

thanks for all the input. I figured it out as it is in outlook>options>address book> radio button "match all contacts in Micrsoft CRM" should be checked, the way the install defaults is that the radio button for "Match only against contacts sunched to CRM" is checked. You then can also change the local data settings in "synchronization" to sync all contacts in BU or just owner of.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you have a smart phone then these contacts will also sync to them. In my case it was around 20,000 contacts........which did not turn out so well.

The right way to do it is to go to CRM menu in outlook > click options > then outlook tab > allow contacts to be sync.Sunday, August 24, 2008 1:05 PM

From what I can tell there is a bug in the client. If you set the address book to only sync the user's contacts you get the behaviour you're seeing. If you set it to all contacts, it works fine. The upshot is set it to all contacts or raise it with MS Support and hopefully they'll create a fix.
