Unable to install 3CX under Vail. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am attempting to install version 9 of 3CX under Vail.

Here are the supported Operating Systems for version 8.

    http://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/supported-windows-versions/

And here is information on the product.

The error I get when trying to install the application is

    3CXPhoneSystem9.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I have Googled and found that many users have this running on WHS 1.0 and they love it.  I have included a link below:

Any ideas folks.  I would REALLY like to test this out under Vail it would be totally awsome if it could be made to work.

I have also entered this question in the 3CX forum but figured I would try this in both locations.

  • IT WORKS

I had to download the software from

    http://www.deerfield.com/products/3cx/

Seems like the problem is in their self extractor.  Anyway did some simple configuration and it works.  I will do more testing later but I installed their Windows SoftPhone and I had my gaming PC talking with my wireless netbook within my office with no problems.  If your netbook has a built in mic like mine you will have to use headphones or you get very bad feed back.

This is a fantastic product for Vail.  Since my server is on 24/7 anyway it might as well be my home phone system.  It even has a SKYPE gateway so you could use this to talk for free just add phones in your house like this one http://www.telephonydepot.com/Grandstream-GXP-2000-Enterprise-IP-Phone and your Home Server is now your PBX.

I would love to see if an addin could be developed for this.  That would just make it perfect.!!!
