Windows Genuine Advantage giving WMP problems - can't run ver.10 or install ver.11. RRS feed

  • Dear MSoft,

    In addition to subject, every time I exit IEXPLORER, it halts with an error message prompting me to send an error report to you. Must have sent dozens.

    Try this first:

    If you are not able to pass validation, but the MGA Diagnostics Tool report says "Genuine" in the Validation Status field:
    1) Go to Go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/
    2) Click "Start Diagnostics"
    3) You will see one or more "Failed" listings.
    4) Click the "Resolve Now" button and follow any directions provided.

    If the above does not fix the problem, try these steps:

    1.  Uninstall IE7, restart the computer.

    2.  Retry downloading and installing WMP11.  Restart.

    3.  If successful, reinstall IE7.  Be sure to restart the computer immediately upon the completion of the IE7 installation.  DO NOT surf to web pages or do anything else.
