Windows 7 not genuine after a disk replace

Question
-
Hi all,
A couple of months ago, the S.M.A.R.T. system of my hard drive issued an error. It was something like "I'm-gonna-die-soon-so-backup-and-replace". As my workstation is in critical mission I made an image of my old hd to a new one. I replaced it, booted up the machine and it did work! I was happy until I got a message of "Your windows is not genuine".
Here is the diagnostic.

You still have an error present.I would suggest that probably the easiest way to fix this error would be to install Service Pack 1, after running a scan with SFCSFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on the Start button
type in the Search box
CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
Select Run as Administrator
- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages
- and then reboot.
run another MGADiag report, and post the results. Then install SP1, and post another MGADiag report.

Your error is probably due to a bad driver set from Intel/Dell -Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Driverstry downloading and installing them from here -Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.Note that if this set of drivers fails to install, there is a second (slightly older) set that could also cure the problem – fromOnce installed, reboot and run another MGADiag report

I did installed the first driver. At the moment I get no error message. Let me a few hours to make sure that the error doesn't arise again.

Hi - I have the same issue. I've replaced a hard disk which failed and restored from an earlier (Ghost 15) backup. This backup was pre-Windows 7 sp1. Windows now keeps throwing up the Windows GA dialog stating "This copy of Windows is not genuine". I can't install any updates as Windows has blocked the Windows Update operation. I can't instal SP1 as this fails with a 0x8000ffff error. Windows GA diagnostic tool reports Windows as genuine, however some files (which I can't overwrite manually) it states as mismatched (though my Ghost restore should have replaced the entire drive contents, so I can only guess they must be damaged somehow?).
I know the copy of Windows is genuine as was supplied with the laptop from new.
Results from the GA diagnostic tool as follows:

I have a Windows system image from post my SP1 installation, however Windows fails to see this to allow me to restore from it. I see from plenty of posts on the net that Windows system image restore is quite flaky/fragile and finicky. (I have however managed to mount the vhd file and recover certain files, like documents). I've done the SFC /SCANNOW several times (then rebooted after each attempt) however without success (though the CBS.log entries generated have gone down now.
Can you offer any help? I am on the verge of going back to my original manufacturer supplied image.

Sorry Colin. Hadn't realised that. I created a new post at http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/de2b5c9b-d600-4e9f-8c54-0aa7a2c9d221. This contained the answer for my issue which I found on a separate thread, which related to the need to update the Intel Rapid Storage Driver when upgrading to a hard drive around 700MB (at least if you have an Intel CPU and storage driver).
