Office 2007 Word suddenly shows up invalid RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a copy of Office 2007 Professional over 2 years agoago from a seller PriceGrabber. The packaging seemed perfect with hologram etc. It has worked flawlessly for months and presumably passed validation testing. Now when I start up Word it says it's not genuine. I downloaded the MGAdiag.exe tool and ran it. Results are below:

  • Hello Boboatmicrosoft666,

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status:
    108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 -
    108 Invalid VLK

What this means, unfortunately, is the installed copy of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 is counterfeit.  It is a Volume License version installed using a Volume License product key that was not issued by Microsoft and likely created by an illegal product key generator.  For more information, please see: What is the genuine Office offer?

    Thank you,

  • Hmm. That's interesting. I have the box in my hand, and it says:
Microsoft OEM Builder pack with Microsoft labelling and is complete with the red cellophane I had to break in order to open it. the CD is Genuine (based on Hologram stamp) and the Proof of License (which I will be happy to send a copy to you) is included as is the "Certificate of Authenticity". If this is a fake it's a darned good one.

All other software in the 2007 Professional Pack is authenticated and running fine. As was Word until this cropped up.

Next steps? I'm having real trouble believing this is not legimate.

  • Oh yeah, I forgot I had to call Microsoft to get the software activated in the first place.

  • That's how counterfeiter's operate.  They make the package look authentic and lie about the contents.  If the license was actually an OEM version, it would be stated so in the MGA report.  Instead, the license was fraudulent and counterfeit.  That is why it pays to only purchase software from reputable sellers with a proven track record.

  • interesting. the folks at MotherShip Microsoft will be interested in this package then. I'll be pursuing the Fraud Protection people with PriceGrabber.com

is there a URL to file for the Genuine Advantage Protection Replacement Program? All I find are FAQs and no email address, URL or other pointer to said program.

    case in point: http://blog.bitcomet.com/post/70466/

    everything but hard information.

    thank you.

  • Please visit Genuine Microsoft Software and click on Validate Office.  When validation fails, click on the Get Genuine button for details of the OGA program and how to participate.

  • Much thanks, the CD & COA package & receipt and all are headed to Microsoft In Erie PA. Hope they catch the b*st*rds!  (Going to be tough after 2 years though I suspect. My "fraud protection" claim from the Pricegrabber website expires after 60 days.. not 700 days!)

    sigh.

    thanks again for the assistance.
