Cannot install latest version RRS feed

  • Question

  • This XP machine is behind an authenticating proxy (for http and https traffic).  There is also a firewall.  The machine USED to run Mesh OK.  However the upgrade from 0.9.3103.9 (I think) failed and a bug was lodged on that. But 3103.9 continued to work.  Never got any subsequent version to upgrade.  The newest (beta) version is exactly the same.  Since the origional software did install OK, I thought it was about time I got more drastic.  Have completely uninstalled the existing (working) version and tried a fresh install.  The popup starts by indicating "installing live mesh", then after a while there is a flash of a red X too fast to read any text and that is followed by "Uninstalling live Mesh" which eventually gets a success tick.  Then there is a regular Windows popup saying "No connection to the Server, Error 80072EFD".  Net result: No Mesh any more.

Why would a previous version install, but no subsequent versions.  The environment of proxy, firewall etc has not changed in that time.

On my two Vista boxes at home, no problems at all.

  • Hi,

We made a number of changes to Live Mesh in the most recent version, and required an upgrade of the Live Mesh software in order to continue using Live Mesh (more information can be found on our blog here).  In order to determine what's going on in your case, though, we need to take a look at any Live Mesh logs that you have.  If you wouldn't mind, please go ahead and submit a bug on this with your logs (whatever logs you have) attached.  Instructions for collecting logs and submitting a bug are in an Announcement at the top of the forums.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • Logs sent to lmprev.

Note that the logs indicate a failure to access http://wlc.update.microsoft.com/muv3redir/microsoftupdate/redir/muv3muredir.cab, but I can access that myself without problems.
