what i want to do amongst other things is delete many of these listings. i can change/delete the few that i can find but where are the others?
warning - editorial comment. it's is amazing to me how badly the ability to configure windows has been screwed up since xp. what a struggle to do what was really simple in the first 6 versions of win nt and so difficult in the last 2 versions.

There are no posts left from me either here. There were some. They were deleted by a mod.
Would you like to know how to make the SentTo folder directly accessible from the Left Pane (Directory Tree) in W.Explorer? I'd be pleased to tell you that too. But it will also be deleted. Just like the same explanation for doing so with Application Data was deleted in Misc Forum. Just a little while ago. So, forget it. Just accept Joel's answer.

In this thread, the first mumbling reply (Joel's) was wrong. CF.MVP finalized that wrong answer with the green checkmark ✔ and locked the thread.

The following shows the original unedited thread before the last 12 entries were deleted.
Notice the trademark misinformed belligerence of Mr Seven. Also very often deleted, he is well known for his deluded and inciteful ramblings.
His very last assault is now showcased as the final post, appended to the existing locked thread.
CF.MVP apparently will resort to any available dirty trick.

Vote As Helpfulusers\my name\appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\sendto will get you to a subset of send to. but there are far more entries eg "my music" and "favorites". where are these (presumably for all users) kept? obviuosly i'd like to be able to change them but i sure haven't found it. yet another setting that was so very much easier in windows xp.

Vote As HelpfulInstead of using "my name" in the directory, use "all users". You should be able to find it that way, it may not be in that exact directory but it should be in there somewhere....

Oh? And do you see DVD RW Drive (E:) in there? -
Vote As Helpful
DVD RW or a flash drive have no send to links because they only apear if the hardware is detected.
-
Vote As HelpfulYou can add send to links by placing a shortcuts to directories you want to send items to in the send to folder.

The way I read the OP, gbr2 has already found the location of SendTo. The question is how to get at it's entire content, not just a subset. There seem to be magic entries in the right-click context menu that are not visible in the SendTo folder. Like DVD RW Drive (E:) when it is detected. How can you get rid of that if you don't want it in the SendTo menu?
That's what I think this thread is about. If not, then I will add that question (if you don't mind, gbr2). -

"but there are far more entries eg "my music" and "favorites". where are these (presumably for all users) kept?"
Why are you confusing the issue derosnec? They not kept any where as the OP thought but I explained you can add other items to the send to folder like my music, pictures etc. -

Why are you confusing the issue derosnec?
Why are you being belligerent, Mr7 ?
I too would like to know how to eliminate DVD RW Drive (E:) from my right-click SendTo list. I can think of little less useful than having that clutter it up. -
Vote As HelpfulPlease derosnic. You do not have to have such a bad attitude and confuse matters. You can add other items to the sendto folder. Eliminating the DVD RW Drive has nothing to do with this thread or what OP was referring to. Read the topic and the first post.

How do you edit the send to menu? Add shortcuts to the send to folder. So please don't flame and have a good day.

I'm not flaming you. You're being evasive. I want to know. How do you remove the useless DVD Drive entry from the SendTo list ?

Mr7, that is distorted. Here is our recent colorful exchange at the end of this locked thread. Review it.

As Vistaline mentioned early on, the default setting in Folder Options can easily be changed. It's been this was since Vista.
Is this thread debating only this single default setting? If so, and if you folks really feel that strongly about that, then I apologize for butting in.
Separately, Luna Tick has pointed out an issue that is functionally troublesome. Even when the .ext is unhidden in the settings, some still do not show in the GUI.
The one I'm especially aware of is .url extensions in the Favorites folder. Does anybody know how to make them appear? The only way I can view them (or change them for diagnostic purposes) is to drop to the Command Prompt. Actually, there are also some Folders that have different names in the GUI that don't reconcile with their actual names at the Command Prompt. Maybe that's too distant a subject here, even though it seems related to me. But imo, these are definitely functional problems that I'd like to see improved.
Mr Seven said:
Sure derosnic, just enter the address into a .txt file and change the extension to .url.
derosnec said:
Mr7, why are you trolling me? I was trying to be politely tactful, and also offer some empathy and agreement.
Your statement does absolutely nothing to make the existing .url files' extensions visible in W.Explorer. That's the topic here.
Mr Seven said:
Where's your sense of humer derosnic? Anyway, .url files are internet shortcuts so there is no real nead to show there file extension since they self compile.
derosnec said:
Mr7, sometimes I get along fine with your warped MaxHeadRoom humor. But are you aware that twice recently you made extremely defaming remarks that became locked on display at the end of a thread? Are you aware of how that ended-up looking? It is not funny. You've carried it too far.
Mr Seven said:
I have no idea what your talking about. Are you suggesting I have tried to defame you?
derosnec said:
And since you say "there is no real nead to show there file extension" then just what is your position in this thread? Just purely argumentative.

Adaptec Raid 2045 (SAS-2045)

Vote As HelpfulI am currently using an Adaptec 29320ALP-R controller.
I am considering upgrading to an Adaptec Raid 2045 (SAS-2045):
http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/products/Controllers/Hardware/sas/entry/SAS-2405/index.htm
Does anyone have any experience with this new controller and W7? Any other recommendations (controller and drives)?
I will not be running SATA drives. Only SAS drives will be used.

I do not have that card either, but I did visit a Holiday Inn Express last night<g>.
I am looking forward to your critique. Also, for some of these cards, they require an 8-lane PCI express slot. There seems to be a shortage of motherboards with that slot. Your insight here would be valuable.

Don't know about propaganda, but in different countries people have a bit different behavioral culture, too. For example in Finland people often tell straight what they think, but don't talk much in general. Then I think in UK and US people talk lots of small talk but value courtesy and face saving. Then if the cultures collide, the other person might go straight to the business, while the other one is still small talking and polishing...Monday, August 31, 2009 6:01 PM

User Consent tasks
-
Vote As HelpfulThere are several tasks in the task schedular that are there to provide feedback to Microsoft, ie. the Consolidator task (If the user has consented to participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement ).
Is there a way to determine ALL of the tasks which are collecting and providing data to Microsoft as part of "user consent"? If not, this would be a nice applet to add to the Control Panel so the user could easily identify, and opt-in, opt-out at will.

Well Doc. The only way to really be certain is to watch with your own eyes. Boot with your network(s) disabled, then bring up Network Monitor 3.3 and start logging, then enable your network(s) and wait awhile. See what gets logged. To simplify the view, be sure to remove all gadgets from your desktop before starting. As you'll see, they call home and engage adware/trackware that you might just want to block with your firewall anyway. But blocking that will cause a significant delay during bootup.
You'll likely find access to NCSI, as that is how MS currently finds it best to identify Internet connectivity.
You also might wonder WHOIS that? triggering the Indexing Service to launch SearchFilterHost. (Particularly if you have iTunes installed).
Speaking of music, check where W.Media Player goes. Here's some disclosure info on that: Windows Media Player 11 Privacy Statement
Here's something else quite helpful. In IE8, double-click the eye-icon on the lower status-bar. Then double-click the entries in the viewing pane to learn plenty more.
Oh well. It's just modern times, Doc, that's all. I turn on my cellphone and GPS follows me to within a metre of accuracy. Use my credit card, and what, when, where, and even the sales discount are profiled. I guess I draw the line at my WebCam. I taped an opaque flap over that. :))
A side note: HP actually fixes their software?<g> I, as well as thousands of users have a problem HP Solution Center (and its hardcoded flash9b). It breaks everytime you upgrade to the latest flash. Many thousands of complaints made to HP, and not one response.
Doc
As a matching sidenote, uninstall your FlashPlayer from Programs & Features. Then use cCleaner to fix all the broken ActiveX. Then go to Adobe to reinstall fresh. You must uninstall first to reliably fix all that broken ActiveX. ;)

Had I not repeatedly nagged (and been deleted), this thread would not have been moved here. See the link above.

Wrong, again.
It was moved here because it is off topic for the Windows 7 forums and on topic for the feedback forum.
Thanks for understanding.

Why don't you just reinstall my deleted posts, Ronnie, so we can see the timeline. Eh?
