    No.. you dont need any other certificates to attempt the exam.

    The guidelines are just that, but please be aware that if the exam is targetted at more experience than you have, you may find the exam quite difficult.

    Candidates for this exam are consultants who provide consulting services for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and corporate developers who use Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Candidates have the following experience or knowledge:
    • Six months to one year of experience developing applications by using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
    • Experience using the following related technologies:
      • The Microsoft .NET Framework at least six months with ASP.NET 2.0)
      • Windows SharePoint Services development (six months to one year)
    • Experience working with XML documents
    • Experience with XML Web services development and consumption
    • Working knowledge of Windows WorkFlow Foundation
    • Working knowledge of IIS 6

    It clearly states that you should have prior knowledge or hands on experience on .NET Framework , sharepoint services development and XML web services development. If you aware of the above concepts then you can give 70-542 exam.

    No you don't need prior certification to write the 70-542.   You can sit for the exam right away. Good luck.

    Hi sruti,

    If you have practical development experience in sharepoint 2007 in the areas of forms services, bdc, search, user profiles e.t.c then you shouldn't have any problems passing the exam.  If you are looking for classroom based training, then you can get in touch with us. We provide a 5 day SharePoint Developer 2007 courses which will prepare you for Exam 70-541 and Exam 70-542 both of which you sit at the end of the course.
