Off Topic:Can't See hidden files

  On my Windows XP computer I can't see any hidden files.
  I've tried to see them again by clicking Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Show Hidden Files in a regular file explorer window.
  But when I click Apply or OK, they just revert back to "Do Not Show Hidden Files"!
  
  Help please!
