Installation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to install Dynamics CRM 4.0 using the following configuration:

    1) Application Server Role on our Web Farm which is in our DMZ
    2) Plaform Server Role on one of servers on our internal network.
    3) Using SQL Server 2008 Clustered instance Enterprise Edition SP1 using TCP/IP on different port numbers.

I cannot past the checks were it says the SQL Server name must be the same as the instance name.

I have tried putting the registry entries in for the port numbers but with no success.

We are using Windows 2003 R2 x64 Standard and Enterprise Editions

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

  • Hi

Can you check the necessary ports are open in the Firewall? Check for a list of ports that must be opened in the CRM IMG (implementation guide).

  • What type of SQL cluster it is Active/Active, Active/Passive or Mirroring. You should provide only cluster FDQN.

  • Hi,

try to telnet from the server where you want to install crm to sql server
telnet <ip or name of database server > 1433
if fails try to fix this issue first.
for database you should provide the Principal database server name (machine name if default instance)
