Automatically Tracking Appointments from Outlook RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are evaluating CRM 4 and liking it a lot, but my boss has a couple of issues.  One thing he wants to do is have appointments created in Outlook to automatically be tracked in CRM, much the same way you can choose to have all emails tracked.  I have Googled and Binged to no avail.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful.

  • Hi Jason,
I was looking for the same solution some time ago and person from MSFT said that it is not possible in the easy way.
You can think about write custom application in Outlook but as I was looking at this it is not easy job.

  • Most CRM users use their Outlook appointments for a wide variety of non-customer appointments, internal meetings and personal reminders -- not just appointments with customers. Since most users would not want all Outlook appointments tracked in CRM, unfortunately, there isn't a standard feature to enable this behaviour.

However, you could try some other techniques. How about measuring the number of meetings tracked in CRM and setting performance goals based on number of meetings per month. Publishing a league table report with either top performer this month or best improver since last month is a nice little incentive.
