Windows 8 Upgrade Question

  I am planning on upgrading my Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q705 gaming laptop with another Windows OS. My current OS was corrupted to the point where I had to format and reinstall the OS. the last OS I was using (Win 7 Ultimate, 64-bit) was backed up on a USB flash drive. The files in the USB drive are corrupted and will not install. I am currently using a Windows 7 64-bit home premium from another computer I have. I have less than 30 days to register this OS (which I can't because it is already registered to my other desktop PC. I would like to know if I can buy and use the Windows 8 Pro upgrade on the Laptop that has my Borrowed Win 7 OS, or do I need to buy a Full Windows 8 Pro OS?
