Your problem is the highlighted error above
usually it is caused by a corrupted Licensing Store.
    try the following.
    Recreate the Licensing Store
    1) Click Start button.
    2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
    3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
    4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
    5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report

  • Everything seemed to work fine, the Software Protection started, but when I enter Slui.exe

    I received another error

A window labled Windows Activation opened

Says I can contact HP by phone for assistance

    details of error

    0x8004F807

Description: Unable to find a derailed error description.

The facility code is: ITF (0x04)

    Facility error: 0xF807 (63495L)

Below is the new MGADiag report ---   Well no, the MGADiag report will not copy, it does show it to me though and the error is the same as it was above.

Thank you for your assistance, but I do not believe you are done with me yet.

There are no obvious problems in your report, apart from the one highlighted above – this almost certainly means that the Licensing Store is corrupted for some reason.
    Recreate the Licensing Store
    1) Click Start button.
    2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
    3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator

    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report

  • Just to re-iterate, I do realise that this is exactly what you did before!

It may well be that Windows fixed one part of the License Store but was unable to fix another in that pass - so the fix needs to be run again.

  • Okay,

I have done the procedure above 2 more times, just to be sure.  Each time all is as expected except when I enter slui.exe, I get an error message, same as in post number 3 above.

Oh, I checked, tokens.dat was not recreated, I am assuming that it should have been.

    Here is the report;

    Okay,

I have done the procedure above 2 more times, just to be sure.  Each time all is as expected except when I enter slui.exe, I get an error message, same as in post number 3 above.

Oh, I checked, tokens.dat was not recreated, I am assuming that it should have been.

    Here is the report;

Tokens.dat will only be visible in Windows Explorer if you also have the options set properly (which is why the instructions are phrased in the way they are). You would need to enable viewing of Hidden and System files to be able to see them.

I probably asked this before – but for what version and edition of Windows is the PC licensed, according to the COA sticker on the side?
If it’s for Win 7 Home Premium, then try using the Change Product Key link on the System Properties page to change the Key to the one on your COA sticker– you may need to activate by phone.

I understand that, and can view the appropriate files. Tokens.bar is visible and there. Tokens.dat is not there.

Windows 7 Home Prem OA HP

There is no Change Product Key link on the System Properties page.

Yes, I guess the next step would be to call in and try to activate by phone, however, I already activated this product, it worked fine until one day when I received an update, wish I knew which one.  It appears that many others have similar problems, and I think that if I call in I will be on the phone for hours, trying to bring whoever I get up to speed.  I would rather not do that.  I have had a couple of friends just say to heck with it and went to a Mac.  I use to think that was stupid, but I am really thinking otherwise now.  This is not directed at you personally, I understand that you are trying to help.  This is directed at Microsoft.  Can't they just have a product that works, without having to get updates almost daily, then the updates don't work, and since the update program no longer works, little things keep happening to my computer that just are not right.

Such as Windows constantly telling me that it is not Genuine, my updates no longer work, now my firewall has shut down, (windows firewall and defender both say they will not start because the system cannot find the path specified) and now my sound has deactivated.  It says that the audio service is not running, and it will not start, because the Windows Audio end point builder will not start, which will not start because the RPC server is unavailable.

Which I believe brings me back to Windows on my computer is being told that it is not genuine.

I know I should only post one problem at a time, but maybe all of these problems are related.

    Please HELP!

    Chris

  • Dude, considering that Microsoft has to write code that works with *any* combination of hardware that may be thrown into a computer, its a wonder it works as well as it does! Apple only has to write code that works with *their* hardware ie: their motherboard, soundcard, videocard...people wonder why Mac's are *supposedly* so good: now you know why! Its a closed, heavily proprietary system. I have both and Mac sucks (my job provides the Mac)....luckily I didn't pay for mine lol.

Your problem sounds like the kind of problem you will have when your OS appears non-genuine. Once you straighten that out, you should be fine.

As far as the *why* Microsoft has to do this with their activation technology? Simple...if *you* wrote software and were losing over a billion dollars a year to counterfeits (Chinese frauds mostly)  then YOU might get uptight about that too!

I laugh at these "If this crap don't work, I'm getting a MAC"!!! posts....

  • Please do not refer to me as "Dude".  I understand why all of this, my post was a little rhetorical.  You do not need to get rude.

I understand the fraud, but that is not my concern.  My concern is my computer is not working correctly, and it appears to me to be not working correctly because it appears to Microsoft that my OS is non-genuine, however it is.

    Now back to the problem.

Maybe a little more info will help.  When I try to perform Windows Update, a small pop up appears labeled Optional update delivery is not working telling me that Windows needs to be validated as genuine, and I am given a link to Go Online and Resolve Now, the link takes me here.

    It states very boldly:

    Windows validation in process

This may take a few minutes, do not navigate away from this page.

Is this a valid Microsoft web site?  When I first went there, I stayed for about 2 hours waiting for something to happen.  Nothing did.  Could this be some form of scam to get to this site so it can scan my computer?

    Yes, it’s a valid site.
Your problem is one that people often encounter, if the security settings are incorrect for the page – try resetting the Internet Options Security settings to Default, then going to the diagnostics page at www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag  - It may show up any further problems, and will then point you at the validation page.
