Can't get system restore to work. System reports Error details: Windows backup is unable to determine the boot volume (0x80780096). Original hard drive failed: Using new hard drive as c: drive. System repair disk windows 10 64. Repair disk is shown on
volume x: External hard drive , containg the backup files, is shown as volume d: When I run restore it finds the latest microsoft backup (I have about a year of backups done weekly) and attempts to perform restore. It completes loading the backup file, then
tries clean up. It then reports the above error message. I have not made any hardware changes to the computer. Is the error message saying that there is a problem with the volume letters? Please advise.
