Excel 2007 VBA problem after converting from Excel 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I converted a large .XLA addin from Excel 2003 & XP to Excel 2007 & Windows 7. The addin uses 4 worksheet files.

Files are now .XLAM for the Addin and .xlsx for the worksheet files.

The application can be used in "update" mode or "readonly" mode - based on user preference or if the files are being used by another user.

in "update" mode the system seems to perform perfectly.

In "readonly" mode, the 4 files are opened as readonly and this is where my problem occurs.

When I run an inquiry module, I get VB error 3274 - External table is not in expected format.

I am using DAO to access data in the worksheet files via SQL statements.

If I reload in "update" mode - all works fine again - in this mode all 4 files are opened for update.

I never had a problem like this under Excel 2003/XP.

    Hoping for Help
