EX485 and Macintosh\Time Machine backup issues

Question
-
I've successfully setup the new EX486 server for a client with a mix of 3 PCs and 2 Macs. The Macinotsh accessible partition that Time Machine uses is present, writeable and working (or so it seems). Time Machine is working great (it runs a bit too often it seems, but this is tweakable).
The problem is that the Home Server Network health constantly reports a "File Conflict" error. The details point specifically to one of the two files my Mac clients are using; it reports the "file is open". Only one of the two files (one for each client, I'm assuming) is reporting a problem.
The backups are working, and browsable from the two Mac Clients, but it seems the Home Server does not like the fact the the file is constantly locked.
Duplication is not enabled on that folder.
Under the "Shared Folders" section the "Mac" share reports the status of the folder as "failing".
I've read in many places that this "error" can be safely ignored, but I'm wondering if there is a fix, or a work-around to at least stop the error from popping up and making my end users nervous.- Edited by VReggie Wednesday, April 1, 2009 1:33 AM reduced wordiness.

Drive Extender needs to be able to access your files for a number of reasons, not just to make an additional copy on another drive. So if a file is held open for more than 24 hours, you will see a network health warning as you describe. There is no way to turn this off entirely; there's no way for Windows Home Server to really distinguish between this situation and a real problem which leaves a file locked for an extended period. The solution is to make sure that the files are released for at least one full hour every day, whether by shutting your Macs down or through Time Machine configuration.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Edited by Ken WarrenModerator Tuesday, March 31, 2009 7:32 PM spelling

Time Machine makes incrimental backups every hour by default. Changing that setting through the OS is a nightmare but there is 3rd party software that makes it easier.I changed the backups to once a day and we'll see where that leads. Thanks for the reply.Wednesday, April 1, 2009 1:24 AM
