CRM 4.0 Online for MS Outlook Client - Configuration wizard not displaying any organizations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have successfully installed Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 online trial edition.

I want to integrate Dynamics CRM 4 with Microsoft Outlook. I down loaded the client application which indicated that it was for the Online Edition.

I installed the client application successfully.

When I run the configuration wizard I enter the Windows Live login details and then I am presented with a screen that prompts me to select an organization, the problem is that there is no organization to select which then means I cannot finish running the wizard.

    What have I done wrong?

    Cheers
    Peter

  • Looks like you are using Hosted Microsoft CRM and not Microsoft CRM Online.  Hosted CRM doesn't use Windows Live ID to login but instead uses the User Name/Password provided.

As Donna suggested, I'd submit a support request per the trial email.

  • I am a little confused by the statement "I have successfully installed Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 online trial edition."  CRM Online doesn't require an installation like we think of for On Premise. My best guess is that the windows live account used to initiate CRM Online is not the same one you are using to log in.  You can also try to clear your IE cache and see if that makes a difference.  Otherwise, I would contact CRM Online support and see if they can help.

  • I only have one Windows Live ID.
The username created by CRM (and used for logging on) is admin@peterlassen.com whereas my Windows Live ID login is peter.lassen@xtra.co.nz

  • Are you able to get to the Web client for CRM?  If so, what is the URL you use to access it?  Your comment that CRM created a username for you is confusing, as CRM Online doesn't create usernames.  Is it possible you downloaded the trial VPC image of the CRM on-premises (4.0) product?

  • I'd check the following:

    1.  Since the Windows Live ID login is "peter.lassen@xtra.co.nz" you will need us this login during your CRM Outlook client setup

    2. Try to login using the CRM Online Web Client with windows liveid "peter.lassen@xtra.co.nz" - are you able to login OK?  Besure to logout from any previous cached Windows Live logins so you can Login as "peter.lassen@xtra.co.nz"

    3. If 2 doesn't work, then your CRM Outlook Client will not work, make sure step 2 above works first

  • Yes I can access successfully the web client for CRM.
The username was created and sent to me in the following email.
It is different to my Windows Live ID but I didn't get the opportunity to create my own username in MS CRM. I'm picking this is the problem but I don't know how to correct it.
