Live Mesh update resets taskbar items

Question

Anyone else seeing this? Very annoying - the latest update (morning of 3/24/2008) removes the quickstart as well as any additional toolbars. Did this so far on two of my machines...Tuesday, March 24, 2009 4:03 PM

Hi,
Unfortunately, this is a known issue that has been with us for quite a while, and affects some people some of the time (I've had it happen to me once). The best thing to do would be to submit a bug as Jim suggests (follow the link in his post above for instructions) - even though this is a known issue, it never hurts to give it increased visibility for our developers by submitting new bugs.
Thanks,
Ben.- Marked as answer by Ben [Live Mesh] Tuesday, March 24, 2009 4:32 PM

I've experienced this when using a third party uxtheme.dll but have not seen this in the latest update while using standard Windows themes. I suggest submitting a bug with logs. How to submit a bug - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMesh/thread/d52b350a-f3e0-41c6-8e78-d6378e566b9e

Just did an update and saw similar behavior. Didn't have any other toolbars running, but all the folders I had open, etc. disappeared from the taskbar. I agree, annoying and inappropriate.Tuesday, March 24, 2009 4:12 PM

As far as I know this will happen on XP almost all of the time. Yes, quite annoying. I have yet to update my XP machines, but expect to be resetting toolbars when I do. :-)

same here. Every update since last July (when I started using it) so far has done this to at least one of the three systems I am running Mesh on.
this one did something curious to the Live Mesh Remote Desktop also -- one of my PCs, when connecting remotely (have .31 on both ends), has no desktop icons whatsoever! The task bar on it is intact. What it actually did to the icons, though, is arranged many of them along the left side of the box & then left a few (and moved some) along the bottom row just above the taskbar. Previous versions have moved some of the corner groupings out or down a row, but this almost looks like someone right-clicked & selected "auto arrange" for the icons.
This is incredibly irritating, as I had them carefully placed all over the desktop -- upper-right & lower-right corners, a group in the middle of the screen, etc. ATI Radeon v.9.3 drivers on each.Tuesday, March 24, 2009 5:54 PM -
You mention that you see this connected remotely. Do you have access to the physical machine to confirm that the desktop was rearranged? Since this is unexpected behavior, I'd file a bug with logs from that machine:

I lost the quick link tollbar too, followed by a total machine lock up requiring a full system restore from a mirror image on my Home Server, tried updating a second time this time with my Panda Anti-Virus switched off, again total lock up, no access to ctrl-alt-del, processor at 100%, all fans running at full speed, up until now Mesh has performed flawlessly for me but this is disconcerting. Finally, after waiting in excess of 15 mins with the machine apparently locked up I got an error message "Could not open Live Desktop. Could not find URL for the Live Desktop" does anyone have any thoughts? Running fully patched XP on a Dell Optiplex GX620 with 2Gb RAM.Wednesday, March 25, 2009 3:28 AM

Uktech, it sure sounds like you need to file a bug with logs on this issue.
