Remoting into the server and getting to the desktop

Question
-
So I configured the Remote Web Access thing via the xxxxx.homeserver.com URL type thing and it works fine. I can log in and see the PCs and the server. If I choose to "connect" to a client PC< it remotes me into the actual PC as if I were sitting there. However, if I remote into the server, it just takes me directly to the WHS interface and I can't seem to find any way to access the server as an actual PC. Is there some way to do this that I'm just not seeing? I need to get in there to do maintenance and check some things from time to time.
If not, can I install Logmein on there and use that like I do to remote into other PCs I have?

What you describe is by design; you should not be using the server desktop as a regular management interface. The recommended (but unsupported) workaround is to connect to one of your home computers, and then from that home computer connect to your server.
Alternatively, it's possible (but also unsupported) to change the Remote Access dashboard functionality to a standard remote desktop, but if you do that you will lose the ability to run the dashboard directly from the Remote Access web site. Instead you will have to establish your RDP session, then run the dashboard manually. If you want to do this, a search or two in the forum should give you the information required to make the required changes.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

You are correct on the website it only starts a remoteapp unlike the RDP sessions for the PC's. I imagine this is for security.
Although I remote into the server by opening up an Remote Desktop Connection and typing in "xxxxx.homeserver.com" for the computer name.
You will also need to make sure Remote Desktop is enabled under server manager/server summary as well as the firewall and you have port 3389 forwarded through your router to your homeserver.
Good luck!
