WHS2011 Client restore problems RRS feed

  • Hi I've recently had my primary HDD fail on my pc and am now trying to do a client restore from my WHS2011 backups using the provided DVD.

    All seems to go fine, i select my backup image and then it restores it to the new disc, (original was 60gb SSD, new one is 120gb SSD)

    But one this has all completed my pc refused to boot from this image basically saing there isn't an OS installed on the disc, i've tried a win7 install repair but even this doesn't see any version of windows on any of my discs.

    Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

  • The new ssd may require a different driver than is found on the restore.

    Try using the win7 installation disk to lay down an os foundation and

    then restore using the appropriate WHS backup. Otherwise you may

    have to manualy load the newer drivers. Sometimes it is a matter of

    drive partitioning at the start. New ssd's usually have unallocated partitions.
