  • Question

  • This is a continuation of the thread below.

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/reportabug/thread/3abff232-1c28-4f7a-ab9b-b2463f3b9c62

This is really painful issue and seems be getting worse.

If I expand-down the thread from link below.

MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed correctly

What's displayed lags actual replies by more than 3 hours. It is still an issue that simply refreshing "My Forum Threads" does not bring in new thread replies in any amount of time. Only method is to close out window and reopen.

Edit: Click down arrow, reply to some thread, submit, after successful, click My Forum Threads and expand-down arrow and no reply visible but Last Reply name and time stamp in header is correct. (all is in msdn branding)

  • As Ed Price commented in the other thread, this is a known issue that we are tracking with bug 59471.

I just added to that bug a link to this thread to have more context about its impact and also commented about the workaround you found.

    Thanks.

  • Usually closing / opening new active window was enough to get page updates. I just found if there's another unrelated browser windows open to forums then you get no updates visible from expand-down unless you close both (or probably more accurate ALL) forums pages. I also always see a momentary rotating cursor just as last windows closes that seems to mean something in that I'll get to see expand-down updates in next new window.

  • Hmmm, .... IE|Tools|Internet Options|Settings Check for newer versions of stored pages = Automatic might have been a problem

  • Changing to Every time I visit seems promising. We'll see how it goes for a few days.

  • Thanks Eduardo. I also was hesitant to call it a "fix" since this wasn't necessary prior to ~April/2012 time frame however work-around is still holding for me.
