Moving existing SharePoint to a 2008 Small Biz Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm about to move an existing SharePoint site collection to a new 2008 Small Business Server. Since it is small business server, it comes with WSS pre-loaded and existing sites. My main question is in regard to the fact that it is small business server - is there anything I need to be careful of because of SBS 2008?

My plan is to detach the databases and copy them over to the new server per the instructions in this document:

    http://sharepointapplied.com/2009/02/04/move-sharepoint-to-a-new-domain/

    Thanks!

  • Hi David,

You should be fine with moving the content databases.  Just be sure that any 3rd party solutions/features you have deployed in the source farm are also in the destination farm.

Also make sure that the version on SBS is at least the same as your source SP Farm.
