Installation of Miscrosoft Genuine Office on a computer which Non-Genuine Office is installed on RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear sir or madam;
    I have aquired a geniuine Office and would like to install it on my computer. Actually I have a non-geniuine Office on my computer and my work is depended on this software very much. Therefore, I do not like to encounter any problem with the correcting process. I must also add that my geniuine software is bought in U.S.A and is "For Academic Use Only" and I would like to work with it in Iran. My OS is Widows Vista Business (Geniuine - coming with my Sony Laptop). What shall I do? Do I have to reinstall the software right away or should uninstall the non-gen one? Your guidance is highly appreciated.

  • Hello S.I.S_,

    Please refer to this snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office Access 2007 - 100 Genuine
    Microsoft Office Excel 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 - 100 Genuine
    Microsoft Office Word 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 - 100 Genuine
    Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 - 101 Not Activated

    Please note that some of your Office 2007 applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are being reported as nongenuine installations because they are Volume Licensing editions of these applications and because they have been installed with an Invalid Volume Licensing Key (VLK).

    Volume Licensing editions of Office 2007 applications are not authorized for sale to individual consumers, and the applications reporting as Invalid were installed with Volume Licensing Keys that were generated by a pirating program known as a "key generator" or keygen for short.  In other words, the Volume Licensing Product Key used to install these copies of Office were made up by a pirating program that generates Product Keys that can unlock software; these Product Keys were never official, valid Product Keys issued by Microsoft.

    The snippet of the mgadiag report below shows in bold the values that indicate these are Volume Licesning installations:

    <Name>Microsoft Office Access 2007</Name><Ver>12</Ver><Val>3AB862DE70D8D86</Val><Hash>UfpXsJvSSVcPufbDdjd0NK73+ug=</Hash><Pid>89384-707-4159871-63833</Pid><PidType>14</PidType>

    In the case of the three Volume Licensing applications being reported as Genuine (Access, Outlook, and One Note), these are only Genuine when they are being used by the organization that originally purchased the Volume Licensing Agreement that covers these Keys, and only while the VLA is a current and valid agreement (they can expire or can be canceled).  If your use of these Volume-Licensed products is not associated with that organization, then regardless of what is reported, your use of this software is nongenuine.

    The report is also showing that your installation of Office Small Business 2007 is not activated.

    What we should attempt now is to uninstall all of the Volume Licensing applications, clear the OGA data cache, then activate what hopefully will turn out to be a Genuine retail license for Office 2007 Small Business.

    Please follow these steps:

    1.  Restart the computer, click Start>Control Panel>Program>Uninstall a Program, then uninstall each of the Office 2007 programs currently on the computer, one by one, with the exception of Office 2007 Small Business.  When done, restart the computer twice.

    2.  Go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on the Validate Office button.  This should clear out the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) cached data.

    3.  Restart again, then open up one of the Office 2007 Small Business applications, such as Word.  Click the Office Button, then the Word Options button, then Resources, then click the Activate Office button.

    4.  After you activate, restart the computer then visit www.microsoft.com/genuine again, and click on the Validate Office button again.

    5.  After validation, please run the mgadiag utility once more, then post a fresh report into a response in this thread.

  • Hello S.I.S_,

    Please refer to this snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->

  • Dear Dan

    Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately I made a mistake and uninstall all the 2007 Office components including Small Business Applications. Therefore could not follow items 3 to 5 either. I am going to install my Genuine Office Standard 2007 right away and will post you the result. Thank you for your paitience.

  • Dear Dan;

    I am not observing any nongenuine notifications on my computer. The uninstallation of non-genuine software and reinstalling of the genuine Office package was successful. Thanks for your assistance.
