How to cancel onecare from the UK? RRS feed

  • Question

  • as title

I have been trying for the last few days to find a way to cancel

my onecare subscription ( I have one month left and dont want it to auto renew),

I have followed various links, dead links and blind alleys, but as yet i cant find a way to cancel from the UK.

I have read from other posts that cancelling this auto renewal procedure is not the easiest thing, but there

has to be some way to do it..

so does anyone have a contact number in the UK i can ring to cancel onecare, or a site

I could be directed to, to achieve this?

i have tried the Onecare support number, but as i dont have international dialing on my phone, I really need a UK number.. I should also point out that when trying to cancel from the windows live page

i clicked accounts/billing/onecare/cancel my service, which leads me to a help bar pop up/ finally this lead to a link to cancel onecare (http://g.msn.com/0HE_TRACKSTAR_ENGB9/29020), this is a dead onecare link.

From the onecare website/member account/cancel your subscription/ this re-directs to another pop up (http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-gb/members/default.htm#) (the pop up never opens, and if you try to open the link in a browser it re-directs you to the previous page...

So. There has to be some way to cancel from the UK, but what is it?

  • Canceling a OneCare subscription from any country involves contacting customer service/support. I don't know why the link redirects weren't working for you, but I know that they make it much harder than it should be. In my opinion, you should be able to cancel via the Billing site by simply filling out a form and getting a confirmation number. That would make much more sense to me, but....

  • I'm having the same problem. Seems impossible to cancel OneCare!

From the Microsoft Billing and Account Management page:https://billing.microsoft.com/home.aspx Clicking "How to cancel my account" takes you to:
    https://billing.microsoft.com/helppane.aspx?project=bam_boom&market=en-GB&querytype=topic&query=BILLING_CONC_CancelYourMicrosoftOnlineServices.htm&tmt=&od=true,1003,562,undefined,119&format=a1

The link from here says: "For Windows Live OneCare, go to the Windows Live OneCare website." This is a deadlink http://g.msn.com/0HE_TRACKSTAR_ENGB9/29020 that just redirects you to msn.com!

After finding the OneCare homepage at: http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-gb/support/default.htm the Help Center link give you this link to follow to cancel:
http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-gb/support/default.htm# This link fails to load...

There is no other way to communicate my desire to cancel, as the feedback link http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-gb/feedback.htm offers no alternatives except this public forum.

Unofficial path - send me an email at sboots@mvps.org with a subject line including "OneCare" (to get past my spam filtering) and in the message body, tell me what country you are in, your forum nickname, and paste this link:

I am not online 24x7, so you may be waiting for a reply, but I'll do my best to hook you up with support.

  • I'm having the same problems, I rang the 0870 number from the site, and it seems impossible to cancel, I chose the onecare help option and they couldn't do anything, I chose option 4 on that number for enquiries and was put into a queue and cut off. As a last resort I've changed the expiry date on my credit card in the billing section, so my details are incorrect now, so basically Microsoft can't take a payment, I hope this works. I'm guessing I'll get an email soon, so hopefully I can let them know that I want cancel in response to any queries from Microsoft.

  • True Blue: I deleted your post as the phone numbers for OneCare support can't be posted here in the forum. :-(

Heyzoos: Sorry about the trouble you are encountering. A phone call to customer service is required to cancel. You already have the number, but someone posted the steps to follow in the UK after calling:

follow these steps reach the Cancellations Department.

    1. In Voice Prompt #1 select Stay on the line for other options.
    2. In Voice Prompt #2 select Home users, press 2
    3. Under Home users select OneCare, press 3
    4. Under OneCare  select Billing or subscription related questions, press 1
