Problem with Windows Genuine Advantage RRS feed

  • I am having problems with the windows genuine advantage update. I got Windows XP from a well-known PC retailer whe I got my PC and I have the validation code. I have had a look at other threads and have done what has been advised to other people facing problems.

  • I know you may not like this answer but I don't know how to troubleshoot problems with system restore.  Please use a different support forum for troubleshooting that problem from the http://support.microsoft.com/ website.

    Like countless others I am having problems with this Microsoft "update".  Now I can't use System Restore to restore to a previous setting.  Help please.

  • Thank you for including the diagnostic output above.

    It looks like the validation control is not loaded on your system. Where it says "WGA Version: Failed to retireve file version. - 0x80070006" it should say something like "WGA Version: 1.5.0530.0" 

    Please go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and revalidate - That should clear the issue.

  • Your reply doesn't help me.  My copy of the Validation System output attached to my message says WGA Version Registered, 1.5.532.0.  My question is why System Restore does not now seem to work.
